Blu-ray finally got its 3D specs completed, and players, discs and HDTVs are expected to start hitting the consumer market sometime in 2010. According to Sony the specs will be backwards compatible, allowing 2D discs to still play on 3D Blu-ray players, as well as allow 3D discs to play on current market 2D Blu-ray players (of course only in 2D).

Another Batman Blu-ray gift set is in the works for the upcoming holiday season. According to The World's Finest site, Warner Brothers is boxing up the new 'Blu-ray Batman Collection' for a November 3 release.

Ask an average Blu-ray Disc consumer what they’re buying for their player, and they’ll probably say its the latest big-budget action adventure.

But for studios, film experts and enthusiasts alike, black-and-white content on Blu-ray is just as amazing as any bright and colorful blockbuster. And sometimes it’s better.

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” will officially hit the streets Oct. 20. The Michael Bay film, which earned over $820 million at the box office, will come in a two-disc Blu-ray set, as well as single-disc and two-disc standard-def DVD versions.
