DTV delay fails to pass

Am I excited about this? Absolutely. I couldn't understand what could possibly happen in four months that would make the DTV transition any smoother. Apparently there is no more money for converters. Well what happened to the money set aside to fund the whole transition? Did it just disappear?

I hope this ruling stands. The further delay would really hurt the reputation of the administration and the program they spent years developing to help make this transition. I understand an Obama defeat would not be the best thing for the country either. But this is one area the new administration should have left alone.

While the transition is going to hurt at first, it will eventually give the economy a boost. The gained space will make room for more broadcasting, and that is a good thing. There are public service broadcasters, cell-phone companies, and from what I understand even satellite companies that want to make use of the bandwidth.

Will people be out of television for a while? Yes, you can be sure of it. Folks will come out of the woodwork wondering where their favorite TV shows went. But how bad could it be without TV for a week? Heck, folks may actually pick up a book in the meantime. Which, is also a good thing.
