The senate this Monday voted unanimously to delay the DTV transition once again. Will this digital conversion ever happen? All the preparation and marketing was obviously a failure because it didn't make the schedule. And the money allocated to the coupon program is obviously tapped.

"Delaying the upcoming DTV switch is the right thing to do," said Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller. He added, "I firmly believe that our nation is not yet ready to make this transition at this time."

Nielson estimates that 6.5 million U.S. residents use analog television signals. I guess they are also afraid of having a potential doomsday. Anything that could further hurt the economy right now is certainly unwelcome.

The new date will be June 12, 2009. But how could 4 months possibly make a difference when we have been waiting for this for years? I say leave the analog signals going. There are multi-channels that aren't even being used yet. Let's wait until we have enough programming to warrant a termination of analog signals.
