Now, more than a year later -- and almost five months after the launch of Fox News HD -- DIRECTV has still not added the channel. The omission seems strange considering that DIRECTV claims to be the HD leader, boasting 130 HD channels, and Fox News is the top-rated cable news network.

Lately, most cable providers have been adding 1-3 HD channels at a time. However Comcast in the Houston, TX market is adding 28 High Definition channels pretty much all at once. We get the feeling they are adding so many since they have so few to begin with.

Comcast Corp. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. said Tuesday they are teaming up to introduce a video-on-demand channel featuring action movies and TV shows. Comcast, the country's largest cable operator, already has a hit with another genre-specific VOD channel and Web site, FEARnet, which features horror movies and thrillers, in collaboration with Lionsgate and Sony Pictures Television. FEARnet is also available on mobile phones.
