The digital divide between Hollywood and the household narrowed June 11 when LG Electronics said it had delivered to retailers the first new high-definition television models embedded directly with Netflix streaming software.

The Rolling Stones: The Biggest Bang will be coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 16. The release from Universal Music Group will feature a 93 minute concert from Austin, Texas, and include a 70 minute documentary titled “Salt of the Earth.” This is the second Rolling Stones release on Blu-ray, the first being Martin Scorsese’s Shine a Light released last year.

Looks like Sony is almost ready to roll out some new Blu-ray changers! The Sony 200- and 400-disc Blu-Ray changers will likely be hitting markets soon. They were unveiled at CEDIA, but no official date was announced. The Sony BDP-CX960 will hold 200 discs and the BDP-CX7000ES will hold 400.

Vizio May 21 announced it has filed a patent infringement suit against fellow HDTV manufacturer Funai Electric Co. Vizio said in a press release that Japan-based Funai, which manufactures and distributes HDTVs for brands such as Philips and Magnavox, “infringes numerous Vizio patents in its manufacturing, importation and distribution of high-definition televisions.”

Toshiba reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss, as the company reduced costs by exiting the high-definition video market but failed to offset slumping television sales. Toshiba’s digital-products unit for the quarter ended March 31 had an operating loss of 15.6 million yen

Sega Corp. this week said that it will release the Sega Vintage Collection 2 to Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360. A total of seven titles will be available for download via Xbox Live and Playstation Network. Titles include Gunstar Heroes (XBLA, PSN), Altered Beast (XBLA), Shinobi (XBLA), Comix Zone (XBLA), Phantasy Star 2 (XBLA), and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (XBLA).

Walt Disney Co. took a major step to reshape the Web-TV landscape by jumping aboard video site Hulu, a move that brings together three of the biggest broadcast and cable network owners under the same banner.
